TU43: So You Wanna Be a Woodworker

Starting out in the woodworking sector can be confusing, contradictory and expensive. Join this open discussion with four industry professionals on how to make a living as a woodworker. We will touch on many topics, such as shop size, number of employees, tooling choices, as well as social media, web presence and sales and marketing strategies, as these four makers from four different size shops compare and contrast their own unique styles and approaches.

Session Objectives
• Impart a clear understanding of how shop size, tooling and choice of projects can help to create a profit-making business.
• Compare and contrast how shop size, number of employees, tools/machinery and project design can affect gross/net income.
• Highlight the differences of each of the makers’ choices of direction and style, and how these have led to success for their businesses.
