Anaheim, CA − (April 23, 2024) – The AWFS® and AWFS®Fair are proud to introduce AWFS® C.A.R.E.S. to the woodworking community and are eager to commence the program’s impactful initiatives immediately.
The purpose of AWFS® C.A.R.E.S. is to work alongside AWFS® and AWFS®Fair and the woodworking industry are dedicated to serving mankind and promoting environmental sustainability within our community. AWFS C.A.R.E.S was established as a means to advance this mission through education, training, services, and other volunteer activities in both the community and industry outreach efforts.
The mission of AWFS® C.A.R.E.S is to strive to follow and help guide environmental policy responsibly, and to empower people across several communities to make long-standing positive impacts. The areas of focus are sustainability, social, governance & performance. Each of the main areas has challenging categories including, but not limited to, biodiversity, reforestation, climate policy, workplace safety, economic development, supply chain management, cybersecurity, advocacy, and performance data.
AWFS® and AWFS® Fair support AWFS® C.A.R.E.S. through their values, performance, communication, and engagement. They understand that humans and the natural environment interact with each other in various ways and will work together to make a positive impact on humans and natural communities.
Angelo Gangone, Executive Vice President of AWFS® and AWFS® Fair, expressed that the opportunities we have to make a positive impact on the community is one that we take very seriously and value the importance of giving back and investing in the future of the climate, our community and our industry. “I think the creation of AWFS® C.A.R.E.S. has been in the making for quite some time and now we have an official program with focus and strategy to help make this world a better place for the future. If you think about it, are there any industries that have a more “sustainable” message than the wood industry? How many industries can say that their main manufacturing resource is not only a necessary and vital component of the environment but is also renewable. We have already begun outreach and look forward to updating our membership and the industry soon.
