Philip Lowe is the founder of the Furniture Institute of Massachusetts where he teaches, and a past-faculty member of the North Bennett Street School in Boston. Since 1985 he has operated a furniture making and conservation shop producing work for the private sector and museums throughout North America. He instructs at various schools and organizations in the U.S. and Canada. In 2005 Phil received the Cartouche Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Society of American Period Furniture Makers, and in 2010 the Bullfinch Award for Artisanship from the Institute of Classical Architecture & Classical America. He is the author of many articles, videos and webcasts for Fine Woodworking magazine and finewoodworking.com.
