Have you ever considered using fine veneers, but thought that the process was just too complicated, intimidating, or that it might take too long to learn? This class will take the mystery out of veneering. Jonathan Benson, a master veneer craftsman and author of Woodworker’s Guide to Veneering and Inlay will demonstrate how to cut and match various patterns starting with the basic book match and advancing to more complex patterns. Jonathan will demonstrate how to inlay these patterns into a field of veneer used to create beautiful table tops, doors and panels. Topics also include how veneer is purchased and stored, adhesives, substrates, clamping techniques, curved panels and finishing. An updated take on hammer veneering – an old world technique that requires no clamping at all – will also be demonstrated. There will be plenty of time for Q&A, so bring your questions and ideas!
